Why you should go grain-free?

Your dog is not only harmed by environmental influences but also increasingly by the ingredients in their daily food.

The preservatives, additives and chemical residues often contained within conventional dog food brands can be jointly responsible for diseases such as tumours, kidney and liver damage, impairments in the musculoskeletal system, fertility disorders and allergies. We have therefore decided not to use any additives within any of our products.

General supermarket dog food is made from inferior raw materials, mainly cereals, bone meals and fats. Often, only a very small amount of fresh meat is contained within the food, instead, meat flours are processed and often declared as dried meat. In comparison, FRESCO relies exclusively on natural ingredients. In our food, you will only find fresh meat, bones and offal, vegetables, fruit and selected oils.

Why do some companies add grain to their food if our dogs don't need it?

The simple answer is that they're used as fillers. Grain can feed the masses, it's inexpensive, and it fills you up. Unfortunately, it's an unnatural source of dog nutrition.

It's important to keep in mind that grain-free dog food is sometimes confused for other popular buzzwords such as "organic, natural, or carbohydrate-free." They seem interchangeable, but there's a big difference. Instead of looking for those words, take a look at the ingredient list. If it contains corn, barley, buckwheat, oats, quinoa, or rice, you know it’s not grain-free. 👍

How can your dog  benefit from a grain-free diet:

  • Better digestion
  • Relief from allergies
  • Gratifies hunger better
  • Healthier coat
  • Boosted energy

What exactly do you mean by "fresh?"

There are many companies that promote fresh food nowadays, anything ranging from freeze-dried to cooked to baked. So what does it mean for Fresco? When we say "fresh," we mean minimally processed food using whole and market-fresh raw meats and veggies. Our food is not fried, baked, or cold-pressed, but rather gently air-dried for raw consumption following the ancestral diet for dogs.
